Snow Globe

Pick up the Snow Globe and give it a good shake. Then, tell me what you see.

Is it a Beaver, his fur slick with snow? Is he still brandishing the branch he was using to protect his home, and are his teeth chattering from the cold? That small sound you hear … it could be the Beaver tapping his branch on the Snow Globe’s glass, trying to tell you something.

Or that sound could be the joyous scream of a Scientist, delighted to be the subject of a grand new experiment. Spatial translocation, mass reduction, simulated atmosphere … the Scientist does not know how the Snow Globe does any of the incredible, impossible things it does. But you can be sure that from his place inside the Globe, he will find out.

Unless, of course, it is not a Scientist trapped within the Globe. That slight skreee-ing sound you hear could also almost certainly be attributed to a Small Spider. Unused to the cold and searching for warmth, the Spider could be crying out as it attempts to dig beneath the snow, creating a burrow from within which it will ride out the Snow Globe’s storm.

Whoever is in the Snow Globe, they are now under your protection. So handle the Globe carefully. Treat it well. And know that, if you do, you will certainly be rewarded.
