The wording on abyss king leads me to believe that if a creep is killed within the extended range it would still have a chance to be recruited, from testing this seems to be the case. Would someone mind confirming this?

I think Helm of Hades extends Abyss King's range,
when Abyss King get a army, there wiil be a gray line of text.
yes that is how it works. probably the best use of the helm of hades right now.

It most certainly does boost his recruitment range! As Abbot said, if you're running a Darkness deck, Abyss King should absolutely be running the Helm of Hades.
