In my opinion 6 is already a good number of slots! :) for vir you wont use branches or rings. So its just a lil hustle for micromanagement :) im always switching them out if i dont need em for the moment. Switch em in again in the moment i need and wait 20 secs use potions switch again... not that hard :D

It could be nice to have item templates that could be saved and applied to towers. That would also be useful to simplify item swapping.
